Vision Exercise
This exercise will help us prepare for our vision mapping working session. The goal is to think about the Stoneham business community now and in the future with a focus on what you hope and expect the Chamber can contribute. There is no right or wrong, only ideas and your vision for the future.
Get Prepared for this Exercise:
#1 – Keep in mind the difference between Vision and Mission.
Mission is different from Vision in that the former is the cause and the latter is the effect.
Vision Statement (Desired End-State) A one-sentence statement describing the clear and inspirational long-term desired change resulting from an organization or program’s work.
Mission Statement (What You Do, Something to be Accomplished) A precise statement that defines what an organization does and what purpose it serves.
#2 – Mindset
Before you consider the following questions, find a quiet place, and envision the Stoneham business community five years in the future. What do you see? How does it differ from what it is today? What positive changes have occurred? How were they achieved?
#3 – When thinking about your Vision work through the following questions.
Freely write your ideas in response to these questions; try not to be perfect, just write down what comes to mind.
Beth will aggregate all responses to share (anonymously) at the working session; they will serve as a starting point for the vision map.
