The Stoneham Chamber awarded its 2021 Scholarship recipients in a brief ceremony just prior to last Thursday’s Summer Concert Series, July 8th.
Each year, a portion of the fundraising proceeds from Chamber events such as Town Day and our Golf Tournament, are used to fund scholarships to high school seniors planning to further their education.
KATHLEEN E. BRAY SCHOLARSHIP – Ezra Walsh
The Kathleen E. Bray Scholarship honors former Chamber member, Director and past President of the Board of Directors, Kathleen E. Bray. Kathleen devoted much of her life to serving her community through the Chamber and other Stoneham organizations. She loved music and spent her life sharing her love of the arts through education and production.
Ezra Walsh is a recent graduate of Stoneham High School and will be attending Emmanual College in the Fall. He plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in Graphic Design. Ezra has distinguished himself in many areas during his high school career. He was a Stoneham High School Student of the Month and appeared on the High Honor Roll throughout high school, as well as a member of the National Honors Society. He is a singer and songwriter and captain of the Stoneham High School Band and received the Outstanding Musicianship Award from The Clark Terry UNH Jazz Festival. Ezra also served as Captain of Boys Varsity Tennis and participated on the Boys Cross-Country team.
THE JOHN F. MAHONEY SCHOLARSHIP – Adam Larzelere
The John F. Mahoney Scholarship honors the dedication that Jack exhibited through his strong business ethic in his work in laboratory construction and his numerous volunteer efforts in the community.
Adam Larzelere is attending Tufts University this fall, where he plans to study biotechnology or medicine. His pursuit of a science degree stems from a lifelong curiosity of how things work and why. Adam matched his curiosity with an outstanding academic record includes High Honor Roll every quarter in high school and induction into the National Honor Society. Adam has excelled outside of academics, including being an avid sailor who has taught lessons to adults at Community Boating on Spot Pond.
CHAMBER BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP – Myles Jones
The Chamber Business Scholarship is awarded to Myles Jones for his excellent academic record, extracurricular efforts and desire to attend business school. Myles will attend Dean College in the fall as he pursues a Bachelors in Exercise Science.
