The Baker-Polito Administration has announced that Stoneham has been designated as a “Green Community” by the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER). The designation awards Stoneham’s plans for a renewable energy agenda and results in direct grant funding of $170,000.
Primarily targeting municipal energy needs, there are direct and indirect benefits for the business community. Grant funding from DOER can be applied to upgrades to Stoneham’s infrastructure and public utilities resulting in cost savings that help offset Town budgets. The Green Community designation also keeps Stoneham’s community planning current, forward-thinking and competitive.
