Stoneham Towing owner Jeff Minghella has been building his business since he was in a car seat in his father’s tow truck. “I do what I love” notes Minghella, “I love this business, I love the industry”.
Jeff grew up learning the ropes from his father. Later, he spent 3 years managing a AAA facility before striking out on his own with the purchase of Stoneham Towing in 2014.
Since buying the business, Jeff has more than doubled its size in terms of truck inventory and employees. Stoneham Towing operates in the light to medium duty towing areas – anything from a motorcycle to school buses and other similarly sized commercial vehicles.
Business is divided between work for the Town through the Stoneham Police Department, and private towing services with individual residents through to large commercial clients such as Partners Health, Stoneham Ford and other local car dealerships, school bus companies, among others. A growing business segment is parking enforcement in private commercial lots.
Stoneham Towing is known for its 24/7/365-day service. Success comes from hard work, of course, but stems mostly from consistently providing excellent service. The Stoneham Police Department depends on Jeff for a 15-minute or better response time. Neighboring communities appreciate the collaborative working relationship Jeff has fostered, and frequently call on Stoneham Towing for back-up work. Jeff stresses safety and courteous service for employees and customers, down to the details of branded uniforms that identify all employees by name. “I think these are some of the things that give customers confidence in us. As you can imagine, we don’t usually get calls when someone is having a good day. I always try and think of the customer’s comfort level in all our dealings with that customer.”
