General Guidelines & Information

We look forward to seeing you at the 42nd Annual Stoneham Town Day on Saturday, September 19, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The event will be held rain or shine. Please review these instructions before arriving.

Arrival and setup

  • Vendor vehicles must enter the event area before 10:00 AM and leave the Town Common area by 10:30 AM. Vehicles remaining after that time may be ticketed or towed.
  • Enter Central Street from Main Street. Unload at the curb on Main Street, Emerson Street, or Common Street; do not stop on Central Street.
  • Town Hall lot parking is available while spaces last. Each vendor will receive one parking pass in the packet placed at their assigned space. A pass does not guarantee a space. If the lot is full, move your vehicle to a legal parking space outside the event area. Do not park in the Church Street spaces or the Winter Street lot by Kennedy’s Donuts.
  • Your assigned space is 10 feet by 10 feet. Keep your display, activities, and handouts within it. Vendors assigned to Central Street must remain within the sidewalk area.
  • Canopies must be self-standing and secured at all four corners with adequate weights. Do not drive stakes or poles into the ground; they can damage the irrigation system. Sandbags are provided with canopies rented through the Chamber.
  • The Chamber provides space only unless you rented a canopy, table, or chairs. Rented tables and chairs will be set up by 8:00 AM, and canopies by 9:30 AM.
  • Food vendors must complete the Stoneham Board of Health’s one-day permit paperwork and be ready for an on-site inspection before receiving their permit. For questions, call the Board of Health at (781) 279-2621.

During the event

Town Day is a family-friendly event. Please post prices for food, raffles, and services, and follow these rules:

  • Do not post or distribute materials that could be perceived as an attack on an individual or group.
  • Do not distribute handouts or solicit signatures outside your assigned space.
  • Hair-cutting, toy guns, aerosol products, silly string, bomb bags, and pop caps are prohibited.
  • Activities that cannot be contained within your space, including distribution to participants, require committee approval each year.
  • Generators may be used only with prior approval.

Failure to follow these guidelines may result in your organization being asked to leave. Chamber volunteers will be available throughout the day at the Chamber table next to the gazebo.

Breakdown

Please remain set up until 4:00 PM. Vehicles may not enter Central Street before then; if you leave early, you must carry your items out. After 4:00 PM, you may load from an available Central Street parking space, but do not stop in the travel lane.

Bring trash bags and leave your space clean. If you use a grill, fryer, or other hot surface, shut it down early enough to remove it by 4:30 PM for street sweeping. If you rented tables or chairs, clean and collapse them and leave them in your space. Leave rented canopies in place. Missing tables or chairs may be subject to a replacement fee
